Let's get to know Rome to make it known to the World
Many places bear witness to the origins
of Christian presence: hence, in living history, generations of believers were able to
understand and be close to "life in Rome" of the apostles Peter and Paul, of all
those martyrs, saints of the early centuries, of unknown witnesses of the Gospel.
These itineraries, proposed to young people from Rome, foretell as an end in itself
getting to know these places, be intrigued by them in a small "city pilgrimage",
which will then be offered to their young friends who will be visiting Rome in
particular on the occasion of the XV World Day for Youth. Each visit will offer
special theme suggestions and points for reflection.
Visits take place on Sunday afternoons starting from 19 September 1999 until 19 December
2000 , before the beginning of the Holy Year when we will be welcoming
pilgrims. Following bookings with the Diocese for Youth Pastoral Work (at least a
week before) an accompanying person will be available for each group. This person
will have to provide for their own transportation (in relation to the different
itineraries).
Some itineraries can take place in one afternoon, others can be split over several
Sundays. However, they can all be "customised" on an ad hoc basis
in prior agreement with the accompanying person.
The itinerary fee is L. 12.000 per person and includes entry tickets to places to be
visited and offerings to be left in the various itinerary churches.
