Music and testimonies at Tor Vergata

The six hours’ show programme (waiting for the Pope ) is ready

 Music, testimony of life and shows. An ideal six hours’ travel starting from Rome, acrossing Buenos Aires, Santiago de Compostela , Czestochowa, Denver, Manila and Paris, will come back to the Italian capital, reproposing the themes and the contents of the seven meetings between young people and the Pope. All that will come to be reality on Saturday 19th of August from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the “Incontragiovani”: "From Rome to Rome across the world", that will prepare the partecipants of the 15th WYD to the prayer vigil with the Holy Father at Tor Vergata.

 

 The “Incontragiovani” is organized by Hope Music, a cooperative association created by the National Youth Pastoral Service three years ago to put now-a-day’s musical languages together with the christian tradition values. “Our proposal for Tor Vergata - explains Marco Brusati, the the director of Hope Music - gets into the WYD atmosphere without forcing, because it is making  young people, who will partecipate, the protagonists, representing, with their own languages, the experiences, the dreams, and the hopes that they are bringing.” 

 

The basic inspiration of the Incontragiovani is represented by the idea of reviewing the contents of the previous World Youth Days through the music, the associations’ testimonies and international christian movements. 

 

That’s why, continues Brusati, the peculiarity of the  WYD 2000 in Rome, is a link between the present and the past closing the cycle which started in Rome in 1984 and opening a new one with the Holy Father’s meetigs, that from the centre of Christianity proclaimes hope to the youth of the third millennium. 

 

Among the protagonists of Incontragiovani music organization, emerge the international christian musicians like Giada Garrison, Tom Booth, Migueli, Sonia Terol, Cindy Morgan, Rachel Lampa, and the group “Up with people and Gabriel’s Harp”, the Italian singers Giosy Cento, Bianca May, Claudio Chieffo, and the famous bands like Nomadelfia, Gen Rosso and Ladri di carrozzelle. The representatives of Agesci, of Comunità di Sant’Egidio, of Neocatecumenali, of Comunione e Liberazione, of Rinnovamento nello Spirito Santo, of Focolarini, of Azione Cattolica and of other groups  will bring the testimonies.The entertainment will be made up by collective movements, by the reading of young people’s messages, by the throw of balloons , by the performances of parachuters and kite-drivers, musical bands and a group of thousands of guitarists. About midday, after the performance of the Angelus, a link with the Repubblic President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, who will welcome a delegation of young people, is forecasted.More times, during the event, the choral groups of young people, run by the students of the Hope Music School will sing the hymn of the WYD, Emmanuel,that will be sung at the starting of every main events of the week from the 14th to the20th of August.
