Dioceses and the World Youth Day: the twinship

The youth who will participate in the WYD will be coming from every angle of the world even from Kazakistan, Taiwan, the Arabic Countries, Polynesia, and Seashells. They represent other young people who will be accomodated from the 10th  to the 14th of August in various italian dioceses till the conclusive celebretions of the 15th World Youth Day. We will have a quick look at the geografical structure of this accomodation for a better idea of this twinship.

They are going to be more than 170,000 and every diocese will accomodate youth from different countries. While many of them will be from Poland, Spain, France and Portugal, more exciting is the arrival of one thousand young people from Bosnia in Ancona, 40 from Finland in Aversa, 55 Ucranians at Avezzano, 400 Bielorussians at Bergamo and Bologna, 200 Serbs at Fabriano, 50 from Northern Ireland at Fermo, 400 from Holand at Lodi, 78 from Hungary and Armenia at Venice, 60 Giorgians at Verona, 48 from Lituania at Montepulciano, 100 from Montenegro at Matera and 11 from Albania at Novara.

It is important to note the twinship between the dioceses of Italy with that of Asia and Oceania, churches which are used to small numbers but not less active. Some data could inform us better: Around three hundred youth form the Arab Emirates will be accomodated by their coetanians of Orvieto, 109  from Kazakistan will pass through Cremona and a good number of about 160 from Malaysia will stay in Florence. Enriched by the presence of the Polinesians (100 at Anagni and 150 at Turin), Philippines (336 at Camerino, 500 at Fabriano), Lebanons (62 at Aversa, 100 at Avezzano and50 at Foligno), Syrians (158 at Capua, 100 at Acerra and 50 at Aversa), Indians (150 at Avezzano and 120 at Foligno), Coreans (200 at crema and 165 at Pavia) and youth from the Holy Land (350 a Como, 180 at Florence). It is to mention finally 14 Japanese will be accomodated at Agrigento, 50 from Thailand at Alba, 40 from Taiwan at Gaeta and 19 Pakistanians at Foggia, 15 cambogians at Trento, 11 from Laos in Siena and 40 from Seashells at Vigevano.

A prescious occasion for a cultural exchange and human enrichment would be offered to the Italian youth given by the coetanians coming also from Africa. Some of them, coming from states inflicted by wars and civil conflicts, would bring really significative testimonies in the dioceses like Trento  and Verona where they will be accomodated. Among the African presences Cape Verde in Bologna, 200 Senegals in Brescia, 50 Camerouneans at Camerino, 100 Kenyans at Capua (and other 10 at Turin), 50 from Uganda at Foggia, 250 from Burkina Faso a Forlì, 150 from the Ivory Cost at Pavia, 200 from Congo in Milan, 150 South Africans in Naples (other 150 at Avezzano) and 50 form Chad at Novara. Smaller in number. But not in enthusiasm, are the youth groups from Mali (in Brescia) and Nigerians (at Brindisi), from Madagascar at (Gaeta), from Zimbazwe (at Terni) and from Guinea (at Verona).

Finally a look at the youth coming from the two Americas. The Canedians will be accomodated at Ischia, Anagni and  Sant’angelo dei Lombardi, 1000 from Cile will share their time with the coetanians of Arezzo and of Bolonga, and 250 Peruvians will stop at Fiesole. Other consistant groups are from the Panama (at Cassano allo Janio), Mexicans (at Fidenza), Paraguayans (at Isernia), those from Guatemala (at Naples) those from Honduras (at Mass Carrara). Another important detail is offered by 60 Cuban youth who will be accomodated by the diocese of Bergamo: the fruit of the mission activity of this particular church opened in the Carabian Islands and also because of the recent visit of Pope John Paul II.
