Brownzy Christ in Tor Vergata

You have been seeing a great bronzy Christ for some days, in the South- Eastern area of Tor Vergata you enjoy a great deal of it on the 19th – 20th of August, when the wide area.it will be pacifically invaded by thousands of young people. This is a sculpture of – 6,10 long, 4,40 wide, 2000 kilos of weight, created by the sculptor Stefano Pierotti  from Pietrasanta and realised by the fouder of Da Prato brothers from the same city.

The sculpture portrays a Christ afflicted from 2000 years of violences and from the human heart unfaithfulness and which is rising again, Christ and transfixed by the human evilness but also acrossed by a divine radience of ligth that filters through the wound of the chest. “This idea has been in my mind for some years”, the artist explains “but the decisive impulse to create the first sculpture model and the following improvements dates back last summer, when I was thinking of the Jubilee 2000.”

The sculpture, in its original model, was showen in the Pietrasanta’s Church. Appreciated for its expressive strenght by some WYD organizers, it was chosen as a simbol to put beside to the great Cross into the universitarian campus at Tor Vergata, reproduced in bigger dimensions and finished just at the Vigil (the 4th of August) of Roman event. It can be admired above the great iron made structure as an ideal gate to the area.

36 years old, married and father of a girl, Stefano Pierotti has been working for about twelve years in the artistic section, and have realised other meaningful works.
