1 The long day at Tor Vergata

 Different groups of young pilgrims will walk from two o ‘clock on 19th Saturday  of August to reach the huge area of Tor Vergata, where absolutely by foot, there will be the conclusive celebrations of XV World Youth Day through Ponte Mammolo and Via Tuscolana ways,. From every areas of Rome and from nearby diocesis will be as a unique, endless, pilgrimage towards the campus, that will be given an accomodation according with the previsions, more than one and a half million of young people. 

 

At 12.00 o’clock, in every Church in Rome and the nearby diocesis, bells will be ringing for a celebration, inviting young people (wherever they are) for the Angelus. On the other hand, at 11.00 am, Incontragiovani Da Roma a Roma passando per il mondo will be starting at Tor Vergata area, that will be organised by the Hope Music School. According to the storyboard enclosed to the press release n. 39 you note this various programmes: at 1.15 the chorus Chemin neuf will sing a song. At 1.56 pm some rapresentans of the Fransciscan and Salesians Youth, will give their testimony. Andrea Riccardi, form the Comunity of Sant’Egidio will present a testimony about WYD in Manila at 4.13 pm. and, that will be followed by musical interpretation of the Magnificat given by Beppe Cantarelli.

 

The interval between the Incontragiovani conclusion and the coming of the Holy Father at Tor Vergata at 7.40 pm, will be filled with by various animations  (people who wave flags, musical bands). The prayer vigil presided by John Paul II will start at 8.30 pm

 

2 TOR VERGATA RITUALS 

 

Six hundred Cardianls and Bishops and 6.000 of priests will partecipate the vigil of the 19th and the WYD conclusive Mass of the 20th August presided by the Holy Father.

 

To the Holy Father, Bishops and concelebrants  priests of the Eucharist will be given a casula made by Pie Discepole del Divin Maestro: the same religious group have made as well the mitra that will be worn by John Paul II, Cardinals and Bishops. For the communion distribution will be available 4500 extraordinary Ministry for the Eucharisty.  

 

The liturgy will be animated by (as well as the vigil) the R oman diocesis chorus directed by Monsignor Marco Frisina. Some moments of the vigli will be enriched by brief coreografies.

 

Beside the altar will be located  a XV century precious Cross, belonging Basilica Lateranense museum, on the stage will be put Our Lady icon of Salus Populi Romani   protected in Divino Amore Santuary. A blow-up of Cristo in trono tra due angeli, valuable XIII century fresco called Sancta Sanctorum Chapel of Holy Steps, complets the artistic decoration of the stage. Finally, during the celebration, four stones will be brought by four young people from different Italian villages, to simbolised the unity of all faithful in Christ beyond the geografic distances and cultures.
