The planning of the distribution of meals for such an exceptional number of people is one aspect which has particularly preoccupied the Italian National Committee for the 15^th World Day of Youth.  It was sought, in fact, to offer hot meals of high quality, in the absolute certainty of food hygiene standards.  After carefully assessment, catering for the food and drink needs of WDY 2000 was entrusted to Sodexho, one of the leading firms in Italy and in the world, which will provide breakfast, lunch and an evening meal for all the participants in the 15^th WDY, guaranteeing the maximum quality, food safety and comfort.  It will be the largest food catering operation ever undertaken.  In order to cope with the exceptional number of meals, Sodexho will use its own “mobile restaurants”, already tried out at the 12^th WDY in Paris in August 1997.

Widespread meal distribution

Alongside the Sodexho teams, which will involve more than 1300 persons, there will be thousands of volunteers who will help to make the collection of the meals fast, easy, practical and efficient.
