Transport plan |
|
An exceptional event requires a detailed plan, especially in the organisation of mobility and transport. The plan must be capable of reconciling and coordinating resources and needs. The guidelines of this work demand · Reducing to the minimum the movement of private coaches and buses within the city of Rome (according to the plan which is under study by the public service) with the provision of adequate parking areas, so as to contain the great mass of buses expected both for the long stay (14th /20th August and the shorter period (19th/20th August). · Suitable arrangements by the public service operators (both in the metropolitan area and in the Region) in order to allow the participation of the young people in the programme of events; · Special interventions to regulate the traffic in the area of Tor Vergata with the aim of ensuring conditions of safety on the march as it approaches the site of the event. A “Preliminary Project for the system of mobility within the Tor Vergata Area” has been prepared by the Agency for the Jubilee. This provides for the realisation of a series of urban parking areas located in various places in the metropolitan area of Rome, usable for long-term parking, and others in various sites for brief-stay parking (19th/20th August) , making a total of 20,800 parking places. The pilgrimage routes which will bring the young people to Tor Vergata are also shown. Certain
data has already been made available with regard to the accommodation of
the young people in various zones of the city, and of the surrounding
dioceses, and also to the locations where catechesis and the main events
will be held (Jubilee pilgrimage, incontrogiovani, Via Crucis, etc.).
This data has been placed at the disposal of the transport
operators for some time.
